Out With The Old In With The New Part 7

Today I typed 2012 instead of 2014, I am not sure if it was just a typing error or if I am just that in denial that is twenty fourteen.
As the year was coming to a close I tried to think what my favorite movies of the year were in preparation for this post. I could only think of two off the top of my head, Austenland and Catching Fire but I told myself not to worry I was bound to think of more when I looked over the list of 2013 movies. Unfortunately nothing really changed after I wrote the list of movies I saw.

Big surprise here but Austenland was definitely my favorite you can pre-order the DVD here

Next was Catching Fire, I don't think I've watched Huger Games again but I would go see Catching Fire again. It has been years since I read Catching Fire but I think this is one of the best book to movie adaptions I have ever seen.

Also can there be a spin off movie that is just about Ceaser Flickerman, Stanley Tucci is the best.

Movies that I liked but didn't necessarily love were Saving Mr. Banks & The Host.

2014 seems to be a more promising year.

Christopher Nolan has a new movie coming out so how could it not, right! Interstellar

Wes Anderson has The Grand Budapest Hotel coming out as well

X-Men: Days of Future Past

Should I keep going? Do you guys want to watch trailers all day?

When Expectations meet Reality

Do you guys remember that brilliant scene in 500 Days of Summer when it shows side by side Tom's expectations of Summer's party and the reality of what really happened?
Too often in life we do like Anne Shirley so eloquently put, “I can't help flying up on the wings of anticipation. It's as glorious as soaring through a sunset... almost pays for the thud.” and like both 500 Days & Anne point out our reality rarely meet our expectations.
Last night I was lucky enough to attend a special screening of Austenland, and although the only real expectation I had was that I would love it, it was a high expectation. My ever practical brain was trying to convince my heart to calm down because there was bound to be something that wasn't going to match my expectations. Imagine my surprise when the movie was over and my expectations were actually surpassed!
I was pleased at how well it followed the book but also enjoyed the changes that kept me on my toes as well. If I was not laughing I was smiling, I'm not joking my friend Jenny complained about about how sore her face was from smiling! The whole cast really did just a wonderful job, and obviously had fun filming it. Hint stay for the credits.

Keri was delightful as the slightly awkward and yet lovable Jane Hayes.

J.J. was completely swoon worthy as Mr. Nobley, that "Darcy guy".

It was a dream come true to see Bret play a romantic lead, who knew he had a little swagger in him?

In my sisters opinion Jennifer Coolidge stole the show, and it is true that everything out of her mouth had me dying. If you think Jennifer was funny in anything else wait till you see her in this.

Chelsea liked Georgia King's character and seriously there were a couple of scenes I thought I was going to cry from laughing so hard.

Don't let the no shirt fool you there is more to Ricky Whittle than a pair of abs. All James Callis had to do was use his quizzing glass and I was laughing.
When the movie was over my friend Chelsea looked over and laughed at the stupid grin I could not get off my face but we all loved it and agreed we want to see it again. And although I love Austenland & Jane Austen I don't think you need to like either to enjoy this movie. In fact I am going to encourage my brothers and dad to see it, I really do think they will enjoy it.

Christmas Highlights

My Christmas festivities started Saturday the 22nd. First up was lunch with Melanie & Melissa we think this was our fifth year of getting together to celebrate Melanie's birthday & Christmas.
Birthday cards is kind of our thing and doodling on the envelope is kind of my thing. We went to Oregano's for lunch something we hadn't done in a long time so that was fun. I also got some awesome gifts! But what really got me in the Christmas spirit was my friend Melissa who decided to do the 26 acts of Kindness to honor the Newton victims. She left a hundred percent tip for our waiter, and giving was always such a part of Christmas growing up it inspired me to find more ways to serve those around me.

That night was our families adult family dinner/white elephant gift exchange. We started the night off by going to Zupa's.
After every came back to my place for our white elephant gift exchange. Do you know why it is called a white elephant gift exchange? I read about this in a book, I think but since I can not remember where here is the Wikipedia version.  The term derives from the story that the kings of Siam (now Thailand) were accustomed to make a present of one of these animals to courtiers who had rendered themselves obnoxious, in order to ruin the recipient by the cost of its maintenance.

Mark showed up to my house in his ugly sweater, maybe next year I will join in the ugly sweater fun. But they are not easy to come by. Mark has us play a game they played over the radio by playing songs from movies and everyone guessing what movies they were from. My brother Brett and sister in law Angie were my real competition but my dad guessed the Cars song and we won!
My dad surprised me with such a sweet gift. He came up with a bag that held two hats and told me to pick one. I grabbed the red one and he put the blue one on. My mom then explained while looking through a catalog he saw these "Sherlock" hats and said we need to get these for me & Connie to wear while we watch Sherlock & Downton Abbey. I think my dad may be the cutest dad in the world.
This is a cutting board made by my brother Ryan that I got at the gift exchange. Isn't it pretty? It is actually even prettier in person. Ryan has an etsy shop if you want to see some other cool ones.
I spent Christmas eve over at Debbie's along with my parents and younger brother Eric. I slept over and did Christmas morning with Debbie's family. Look at the journals William & Gracie designed and help wrap for me.
Here is Joe Joe playing with the train I got him!
Then it was time to head out to my parents for Christmas breakfast. Here are all the stocking, my mom does not mess around!

I decided to make ornament tags to go along with my gifts this year, thank you pinterest.
Here is my mom opening the gift we got for her & my dad, wireless headphones for the tv.
That evening Debbie, Russ & I went and saw Les Miserables, it was beautiful and even better the second time around though even harder to not sing along with. Also did anyone else find themselves almost clapping after so many songs? I am just a little sad that A Little Fall of Rain is not on the soundtrack.

A Promise

A year ago I promised my brother Mark when he was getting ready to move to Omaha to go to law school that I would fly out there to see The Dark Knight Rises with him. Well it turned out that Mark and his family were coming back to Arizona a week after the premier of The Dark Knight Rises so we decided that we would wait a week and see it together. Can I tell you what a hard promise that was to keep! I thought about going any way but I knew he would ask and I knew I could not lie about it.
Most of the adults in my family were coming so we all met before at Debbie's house some went swimming while others of us made t-shirts batman headbands and hair clips then had dinner (thanks mom).

When the movie was over I wanted to jump up and scream and clap, but settled for sitting and clapping loudly.
I am sure everyone has seen the pictures of Christian Bale visiting the victims in Aurora, I still get teary eyed when I see them. I looked everywhere to find my senior high school yearbook so I could take a picture of what my friend Lindsey wrote in it back in 2000 "We Hail Christian Bale" sadly it is lost*. But my devotion to Christian has never wavered and I am proud to still be a fan.

*Edit I did find my yearbook at my parents house!

Les Miserables

I kept seeing things about the casting for the new Les Miserables movie but didn't pay to much attention not wanting to get my hopes up. I am not sure what I was expecting when I watched the teaser trailer but it wasn't this...

I must have watched it ten times, at first I thought Anne's voice could have been stronger but I now like that it is more real instead of Broadway, I think it is fitting for the movie. I didn't just stop with the trailer I went and watched several more videos.
Didn't seeing Eponine standing in the rain just make your heart hurt?

She was Eponine in the 25th anniversary special and I like her more than some Eponie's I found this video of her performing A Little Fall of Rain

But I will admit that no one can compare to Lea Salonga she will always be my favorite Eponine.

I was so happy to see Lea on the 25th anniversary playing Fantine

Also can I say how happy I am about the fact that Helena Bonham Carter will we playing Madame Thenardier aka the inn keepers wife! I guess I am going to be seeing two movies Christmas day.

Hunger Games Ramblings

Last night a couple of my friends rented out a couple theaters to do an advanced screening of The Hunger Games, meaning we got to see it at eight rather than midnight! I hate spoilers so I am simply going to say that the movie swept me up and took me to places that had previously only existed in my mind and I left happy.
I chose not to re-read the books (again) because I was afraid with it fresh in my memory I would be annoyed more at the details they could not fit into the movie. After the movie was over and I was home in bed I kept thinking about Katniss and her journey and my own Hunger Games memories.

I read The Hunger Games September 25, 2008 (at least that is when I added it to my Goodreads) I looked up to see when The Hunger Games came out September 14th so a week and a half before I read it. All I knew about The Hunger Games was it was getting buzz from authors and it was highly addicting. When I was reading it for the first time my sister Debbie along with her husband Russ, son William and baby daughter Gracie were living with me in my two bedroom condo while Russ was doing his rotations. William and I were sharing a room and I remember reading late into the night and finally having to put the book down to get some sleep. When I got home I went straight to my room to read and when the book ended and I saw book one. I wanted to throw the book across the room knowing that the book had just come out and I would have to wait a year for the next one. And although I did not throw the book across the room I did hit the book a few times on the bed.
Thankfully one of my friends named Jen got an ARC for Catching Fire and she let me borrow it. I don't remember why but that weekend Debbie her family and I were staying at my moms. I brought The Hunger Games along with Catching Fire in case Debbie would finally read The Hunger Games. I was right when Debbie saw she had the chance to read Catching Fire as well she grabbed The Hunger Games and we went into the spare bedroom and read side by side. I still remember having to put the book down and pacing down the hall because I scared to know what happened but had to know what happened.
Mockingjay came out August 24th the day before my birthday so I took my birthday off and spent the day reading and eating. One of my favorite pictures is of me laying on Debbie's floor while I was reading Gracie came and laid on me while she watched Peter Pan.

Melissa and I as usual decided to make arrow shirts last minuet. You can kind of see them in the picture Espe took of us before the movie.
I love how things like books or movies or songs can bring you back in time and next year when I am watching  Catching Fire I am sure I will think back to last night on my trip down memory lane.

Out With The Old In With The New part 5

Happy New Year!!!
Guys can you believe that I have been blogging for over 5 years now? December was a busy and fun month and I feel like my holiday's just finished and I can finally get to posting my traditional end of year favorite movies post.  (I know you all have been waiting for it.) ;)

My favorite movie of 2011 with out a doubt had to have been Harry Potter Deathly Hallows part 2. I think I saw it three times in the theater & know it is going to be one of the movies that I will remember seeing in the theater for years to come.

Next up was The Kings Speech, really what is not to like about this movie, a marvelously talented cast & a story that pulls on your heart strings.

In my opinion the X-Men movies are what made comic book movies kick up their game and X-Men First Class did not disappoint. I believe I said this in a blog post already but a comic book movie that can make me cry is a good comic book movie!

Movies I liked were Super 8, Midnight in Paris, Jane Eyre & Like Crazy, even with its indie ending.

As for the New, 2012 is going to rock our socks off with movies! So many movies I am looking forward to seeing!!!
Obviously The Dark Knight Rises

My brother Mark and I were texting today about little things in the trailer, WE CAN NOT WAIT!

The Hobbit

The Hunger Games

I am also looking forward to The Avengers, Snow White and the Huntsman & Disney's Brave.

This Week

At our Sunday family dinner I had a lot of fun showing off my new iPhone with my nieces & nephews. We took pictures of ourselves then used an app to make our faces fat. We listened to Tangled songs & can I just saying singing with my nieces to Tangled is one of the best things in the world. Their passion for singing & amazing ability to sing produced the biggest smile on my face.
The last couple weeks when I have had spare time I have been sewing bows to help my mom. And earned some extra money as well. Here is about 70 of the 170 I have sewn so far.

I am determined to finish the last few I have so I can read the books I have this weekend. I had been waiting for these books to come from the library but have been to busy sewing or other things to read them. But I have listened to free audiobooks on my iPhone, Pride & Prejudice & Persuasion. Thank you Debbie for telling me about that app.

I also babysat Debbie's kids while her & Russ went to the Temple

Yesterday I was driving to Debbie's we were going to go see the movie 17 Miracles our cousin Kim & her kids are in it. While driving to Debbie's I saw these beautiful clouds. When I see clouds like this I always think of a little boy Debbie had babysat for back in jr high who saw similar clouds and told his parents "shhh Jesus is going to talk."

Then out of no where it started to rain with the sun still shinning & had pretty much stopped by the time I got to Debbie's.

It was so much fun to see Kim & her kids on the big screen, here are two of her boys Kaleb & Kalvin.

Every time Keaton was on the screen everyone would awwwhhh over his cuteness. Ok maybe not the time he was eating the cow pie.
(stolen from facebook page)

I hope everyone has a wonderful Independence day weekend (those in the States at least). I plan on dividing my time between reading & swimming.

Fantasy Vacation

Yesterday on twitter I saw a hash tag ConfessionsofStrandedTimeTraveler. When I saw it I thought yes, yes that is me! It also made me think of this quote from C.S. Lewis...

Which is pretty much the reason I love to read & watch movies, I get to escape to a world that I feel like I belong in. Which worlds do you like to escape in?
Narnia? Especially if Mr. Tumnus is James McAvoy
Perhaps it is Hogwarts
Or if you are like me, Pemberley
I wouldn't mind be locked in Penelope's bedroom
Or maybe Coeur D' Coeurs aka Pushing Daisies

Do you want a Hobbit Hole for yourself?

Well Cassandra Clare's latest came out today so I am off to Idris or more likely New York, see you later.

Out With The Old In With The New part 4

My favorite movies of 2010
Inception

I would have loved this movie just based on the fact that it has a bunch of good looking boys in it (Joe Gordon-Levitt, Cillian Murphy & Tom Hardy) who are doing a heist. I love heist movies with a bunch of boys and one girl, Oceans Eleven, Newton Boys, The Italian Job & The Brothers Bloom.  But Inception was so much more, the amazing details like the waredrobe. How each character had a unique style that fit their personality, especially how Dom (Leo) dressed like an old man, because in his mind he was. Am I the only one who was swooning over Arthur's (Joe) suits, because dang he looked good!
You know how movies about books are never as good, because in a movie you can't easily feel the emotions going on with the main character. Inception makes you walk out feeling exactly like Dom, is it reality isn't it. And for those who say the whole thing was a dream, that is a bunch of hooey.

True Grit

When I saw the Coen brothers were remaking True Grit I was very excited because my dad is a big Coen brothers fan. My brother Mark is as well, he forced me to watch No Country For Old Men edited of course. The movie was dark, funny & intense a good receipe for the Coen brothers. I saw it with my dad, four of my brothers, a sister in law & brother in law after we just kept talking about the movie over and over.

The Young Victoria

This technically came out in 2009 but I did not see it till 2010. If you are reading this chances are I already made you watch this movie with me.

As for 2011 here are some movies I am excited about.
Jane Eyre

I loved that they cast people age appropriate & what can I say I am a sucker for pretty movies. Doesn't it look pretty?

The Conspirator

I have been missing James, so I am very excited that he has two movies coming out!
X-Men First Class
Is that Mr. Rochester I spy as Magneto? James McAvoy will be playing Professor Xavier & look at Nicolas Hoult in the back (I am so happy how tall & handom the akward little boy Marcus from About A Boy turned out) will be playing Beast.

Do you want to dance?

Although my sister Debbie & I are different in personalities we get along so well because we love so much of the same things, and we both really love to sing & dance. We will be driving in the car music playing but deep in conversation but both stop talking at the same time and sing one line of the song, it just has to be done. Why we pick the same lines to sing, who knows I guess it is just one of those weird sister things. I did a post on movies I love that have singing in them but are not musicals called Sing Sing Sing which you can see here.

We also love to dance and with Debbie pregnant it made me remember how when she was pregnant with her first child we use to have dance parties after Sunday dinner. And during that same time our friend Lindsey (who is one of the best dancers I know) was sad so Debbie & I put some music on and danced in our parents drive way to cheer her up. The picture below is a recreation we did to help Brett propose to Lindsey.

Pregnant Debbie dancing is a favorite of anyone who has seen it & don't worry I have a video for you to watch of Debbie dancing while she was pregnant with number 2 Gracie here
You're Welcome!
Also here are some of my favorite dancing scenes from movies that are not musicals.

Looking Forward

I seem to look at time differently than others. It is October which will fly by so I better start getting my fill of pumpkin shakes, bread, pancakes, muffins & ice cream fast. Then November always goes fast then Christmas see it is already the new year and guess what it has been a year since I went to Europe. See my mind skips ahead and then I say crazy things like that in September when in fact it has barely been over half a year.

For the last few years I have posted my favorite movies of the year. With the year winding down I began to wonder what movies would make the cut. Is it just me or has this been a slow year for movies? Thankfully there are still some movies coming out that I am looking forward to.

Harry Potter

I went to the midnight showing of The Half Blood Prince with Mimi & her family last year, I am excited that this year I will feel like a real fan since I finally read the books.

The Tourist

I am so excited for this it looks very North by Northwest.

True Grit

My dad loves the Coen brothers movies, with out even knowing they were Coen brothers movies. So I was excited when I heard that they were remaking True Grit, since my dad is also a John Wayne fan.

Speaking of October & pumpkins what do you think should I be Mary Poppins for Halloween?

Out With The Old In With The New part 3

500 Days of Summer

This was not only my favorite movie of the year but one of my favorites in general. As soon as it was over I wanted to watch it again, it just had that movie magic.

Avatar

I knew this movie was going to be important and I tried to tell people, thankfully most listened and not only had their expectations met but exceeded.

New Moon

All I can say is man I love Chris Weitz.

In the past I have picked 5 movies but I can't decide what order the rest should go so here are just some other movies I liked this year they just didn't stand out like the first three.

Terminator Salvation

Christian Bale, Sam Worthington & Anton Yelchin, enough said.

Wolverine

Hugh Jackman, Ryan Reynolds, & Taylor Kitsch...no reason for words.

17 Again

I didn't understand the deal with Zac till I saw this.

Movies to see in 2010
Alice In Wonderland - March 5th

Iron Man 2 - May 7th

Salt

Interception

Movie Line Up

First up is Whip It (Oct 2nd)

I will be honest I am not 100% sold but with a cast like that, it should be good for a couple laughs. Right? And hopefully not just the ones in the trailer.

Where The Wild Things Are (Oct 16th)

Oh come on, it is just so magically delicious.

Gentalmen Broncos (Oct 30th)

If you didn't know that I love Jemaine Clement, well you do now.

New Moon (Nov 20th)

Like I need to say anything.

These Lovely Bones (Dec 11th)

I liked this book but it was really hard for me to get through. It was pretty much my worst fear growing up, losing a sibling but mostly my sister.

Avatar (Dec 18th)
It is better to go here and see it.

Sherlock Holmes (Dec 25th)

Oh yeah I am seeing this Christmas day.

The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus (Dec 25th)

I guess I will be seeing two movies on Christmas day.

Day Two - Beach aka Power Hour

Friday started with breakfast at Millie's then Mimi & I dropped Britt and her friends off at Disneyland (I didn't think I wanted to do 2 days of Disneyland). After Mimi and I got ready and then headed off to the beach. We decided to take the closest freeway to the closest beach which happened to be Hermosa.

After picking a spot on the beach we headed down to the water. At first just putting our feet in and slowly going farther out. The under current was crazy strong I had never felt it tug at my feet so hard before. Mimi mentioned that we were probably in a surfer only spot since there was no one else swimming. So we found some flags that looked to mark the end of the surfing only area and headed down there. We were getting in to about our waist when we heard someone yelling to us. We weren't the only ones who heard the 18 year old life guard yelling at us. He then came up to tell us that there was a very strong undercurrent (no kidding, I couldn't tell) and that we were still in the surf only area. With our heads hung (I hate getting in trouble) we walked past the guys playing football and headed down the beach to were there were less people.

Once we got all the way in, the water was great I wasn't cold at all. We soon started to play in the waves and soon would get swept away and rolled around until the tide swept us a shore. When I would finally stop I would look over at Mimi both of us holding on to our swim wear so we would not loose it and just laugh at each other. We would then get up and try again, we even tried body surfing which was not a good idea at all. At one point Mimi got swept under came up only to get swept under again. I was trying to watch for her to make sure she did not get swept to far, when bam something slammed hard into my shins (I may or may not have sworn). It took me a second to realize it was probably Mimi that had ran into me and right then she sat up. We both laughed and laughed. That may have been when I lost my footing and got pulled along and scrapped up my leg. We then tried to get the sand out of our hair and decided we needed a break.

After sitting for awhile we both realized our toes hurt from trying to dig into the sand and not get swept away. It was crazy only after an hour of playing we felt like we had been playing in water all day. We went to the showers and could not believe the amount of sand that was everywhere. We both ended up taking two turns each. After we sat on the beach laughed some more as we dried off. When leaving the beach a good looking guy in a Mercedes SUV pulled up and asked if we were leaving we said we were he then told us he was just going to hang out and wait while we loaded the car and changed. When we pulled out I yelled bye Coop, all good looking guys driving in California will now be named Coop.

By the time we were heading back it was dinner time and I was hungry so we were looking for a place to eat when Mimi saw a Mall with an AMC theater. We had talked about seeing 500 Days of Summer since we did not think it was playing in Arizona. Alas that theater was not playing it and there was nothing else so we walked over to the Red Robins in basically pajamas no make up and our hair all messy from air drying. But apparently gross old guys like that look Mimi said one was trying to catch my eye. I don't know how old or how gross I didn't see and didn't ask Mimi because I did not want to know, yuck.

After dinner we went back to the hotel got a newspaper found the closest theater playing the movie got directions. And after showering and getting dressed we drove to Edward's Theater it was on a campus in Irvine I think. When we got there the show was sold out, there was a later showing but Britt had text saying that Disneyland was closing early so we would be to late to pick them up. When we got back (it was like a 20 min drive) Britt text saying she was wrong and Disneyland did not close early. I was pretty sad we missed seeing 500 Days of Summer especially since I didn't know it was playing in AZ. But I was pretty happy about getting back to the hotel and being able to sleep.

But it all ended well since when we got back we found out it was playing. Debbie, Mimi, Britt and I went and saw it Tuesday. And let me just say it is true when the trailer warns you this is not a love story but all the same I loved it. I laughed so hard and really just thought it was perfect. I wanted to watch it again as soon as it was over.

I have been told a few times that I look like Zooey both Mimi & Debbie agreed and during the movie there is this part where Zooey is sitting at a bar and a guy who was credited as douche (sorry mom) came up and started hitting on Summer (aka Zooey's character) and Summer is pretty matter of fact to this guy. I didn't think she was being rude, others might have. Right then Britt leans over and says she even acts like you. The whole movie as I would look at Zooey I was thinking we don't look anything alike. Then when we step outside the theater Mimi and Debbie commented on how we do look alike, I disagreed but Mimi argued that I blink like her. Which made me laugh and I responded with "well I guess I don't know since it is impossible for me to see myself blink."

Day One - Comic Con

We got to San Diego early Thursday AM to join the already long line for the H Hall. Thankfully I was able to get a couple hours of sleep thanks to an eye mask and ear plugs. What is crazy is we had to wait in two lines the first one (the one we slept in) was for the H Hall thankfully there was enough of us to split up and keep our place in line. The second was to get your ID badges that grants you access to the events. Here is the line to get our ID badges...can you see the line? I was hoping the sign that says The End Is Nigh was meaning the end of the line but sadly no.
I had wanted to take more pictures of people dressed up but I was never quick enough with my camera. Here is Zelda.
We were getting ready to enter the H hall when I spotted a guy dressed up as Edward, but when I got a better look I realized it was the kids who did one the Twilight spoofs I actually liked. You can see the spoof here. It was funny because I was moving in line so I only had a second I called Hilly (thankfully Mimi remembered her name) they turned saw the camera and posed in about 30 seconds it was great I didn't have to slow down the line.

The first panel of the day was...

Disney: 3D Panel— Patton Oswalt moderated the event (who was hilarious by the way, you may know him from King of Queens or the voice of Remy from Ratatouille) as the filmmakers presented their movies... A Christmas Carol, Alice In Wonderland and Tron. Special guests include Robert Zemeckis, Tim Burton, Sean Bailey, & Steve Lisberger.

First up was A Christmas Carol

The director Robert Zemeckis (Back To The Future, Polor Express) showed us a clip of his new 3-D movie starting Jim Carrey who plays eight roles, Ebenezer Scrooge and all three Ghosts of Christmas Past, Present and Future.

Highlight: When Patton Oswalt asked the director if they have been sued for their characters looking like Flammer from Fantastic Four, I can't remember the other one but the last one was Amy Winehouse.

Alice In Wonderland with Tim Burton

This has a lot of the footage we were shown but the footage we saw was of course 3-D and was to the song Time To Pretend by MGMT...we actually got to watch it three times!
Highlights: After we watched it the first time Patton Oswalt said to Tim Burton, “Thanks, Tim. You know, I’ve always wanted to try PCP.”

THE BIGGEST HIGHLIGHT EVER!!!

Last was Tron

Which I was not excited about. Last year they showed a clip as a surprise, it did nothing for me. I am not sure if I ever saw the original Tron maybe when I was 5 or something. They did show another clip which looked better and we saw the same clip in 3-D which made it cooler.
Highlight: Cute boy to look at for the girls and a pretty girl for the boys to look at.

Next up we had another 3-D showcase with: Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs, The Hole, The Final Destination.

Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs is an animated 3-D film...Highlight Andy Samberg who is one of the voices came out to say hi.

Director Joe Dante (Gremlins) makes his return to the genre he knows best with the 3D thriller The Hole.

Highlight: During the clip it had a little boy around 10 years old in a basement he hears something and begins to look around and you see this old creepy looking doll, everyone gasped (thinking no no not the doll) then it pans over to a even scary clown doll everyone even gasped louder (no no not the scary clown doll)

Then it was Summit Entertainment— which had sneak peeks of Astro boy—an all-new CG-animated feature film with cast memebers Freddie Highmore (Charlie & The Chocolate Factory & Finding Neverland) and Kristen Bell)

Highlight: When Freddie started to talk and everyone started screaming because of his accent. That is what happens when you get a room full of Twilight fans.

Sorority Row—Think I know what you did last summer set in a sorority. Highlight...it was fast the girls didn't even sit down.

The Twilight Saga: New Moon—

Taylor talking about transforming into the bigger Jacob Black. In case you don't remember here is a picture of Taylor just last year at Comic Con.

And here he is now...
Seriously!!!
I would just like to take this moment to say to all the fans who hated Jacob in the books... You are in for a surprise, it is going to be much harder to dismiss him on film than it was in the books. I said it months ago and I just want to say it for the record.

In case you are wondering about Kristen she is in the middle of filming The Runaways and is playing Joan Jett.
Kristen was asked if it was more difficult to prepare for New Moon than Twilight.

Rob talking about how little he had to do for this movie...I love when he says "that's the way I like it"

I would like to interrupt this blog to answer a question I have been asked several times..."Do I really think this guy Robert Pattinson is good looking?" The answer is yes I really do think he is good looking. Not that I have a huge crush on him, in fact I feel pretty sorry for the poor boy. But see look at that cute grin...

And sometimes he does this pouty thing with his lips... He is also very good at doing the whole smoldering eyes thing...
So yeah I think he is good looking...Ok back to Comic Con.

Besides the panel we were shown two clips one where Jacob was showing Bella how to drive the dirt bike and we got to see the phantom Edward, Jacob take off his shirt & Bella tell Jacob he is sort of beautiful. The other clip started off with Bella & Alice driving through the streets in Italy (it kind of looked a little like a soap opera, I am confident that it will look better in the movie) then Bella running through the square to save Edward.

Highlights: Rob gave this analogy about his life since Twilight. It went something about him walking along stepping on a rock it going flying and then him trying not to drown. I loved watching the clip of Bella running through the plaza and when she got to the fountain everyone screamed or clapped because it was from the book. Oh and when asked what they were looking forward to filming and Taylor said the sleeping bag scene.

Last Panel of the day for us Avatar
20th Century Fox and James Cameron present Avatar— In this first public screening of footage in 3D from his much-anticipated action/adventure/fantasy. James Cameron has been working on this film for years and were able to see over a half an hour of footage. The world he created was breath taking. This technology is going to be able to bring so many sci-fi novels to life. It was obvious that the actors themselves were proud and excited for the movie.
I knew about the movie before Comic Con because my new boyfriend is in it sadly he could not make it since he is busy filming but they did play an interview of him on location.

After we were all very tired so we made our way to our hotel in Los Angeles. Mimi was driving Shelby's truck (since Shelby was not comfortable driving in California) she got off the freeway so we could get dinner. Now Mimi was tired and I guess that is why she did not see the curb and drove over it. Then proceeded to park and cut off a mini cooper in the process. Britt & Amber where in the car with me and since we were behind Mimi we saw this all happen. All three of us were laughing and shacking our heads when we noticed the guy in the mini cooper looking at us. He was also laughing and shacking his head along with us. The guy also happened to be very cute which only made us girls laugh harder. When we got out we explained to Mimi why we were still laughing so hard we to call him Cooper, I then turned and yelled come back coup come back.
