And It Sings To Me Inside

For Debbie's birthday I bought her tickets to see Florence & The Machine. We started the night off by going to Cibo in downtown. 

 I know you can't see the skirt that goes with Debbie's dress but she had two complete strangers come up and complement her on her outfit.

 The food was really good, I think Debbie got pictures so you will have to wait for her post to see it.

 Besides being an extremely talented singer I love Florence's music, it speaks to me. Her music transports me the same way reading does, she has the power to create worlds with her words & voice. Seeing Florence live only amplified those abilities, she was also able to show us what her songs mean to her. She ignited the crowd and here it is half a week later and I am still thinking about the concert. If you are a fan and get the chance I would definitely go.

Dancing with Thom

I can't seem to find the right words about seeing Radiohead, other than it was a dream come true. I have had a dream of dancing with Thom Yorke and I felt like that dream was fulfilled!   

Also Thom had a ponytail and the night before the concert my friend Lauren and I were talking about how attractive ponytails on males can be (high five Lauren).

Tennis, Tigers & Ballroom

I read about the band Tennis on a blog, their story is what got me to listen to them. The couple met in college after graduation they saved up money bought a boat and spent a year sailing the eastern coast. I had imagined them sailing & writing music but according to this interview with NPR they wrote the music after as a way of documenting their experience.

When I asked Mimi if she was interested in going she said she liked the opening band Miniature Tigers so it was perfect. I was excited to try out the newest venue The Crescent Ballroom. Which I liked very much it has some risers in the back which we went and sat in towards the end. Also if you are wanting to attend a show I would buy tickets online, there was a pretty long line waiting to get in.

The lead singer of Tennis was pretty much the cutest person I have ever seen on stage, a girl from the audience even yelled out "you're adorable".













Tennis has a new album coming out on Valentines day this coming February, I am digging it, give it a listen.

Matt & Kim 6/14/11

I am really happy we were able to go to Matt & Kim especially since when they came last October I had told  Mimi I didn't think it would sell out & could just get tickets at the door. Well it did sell out, thankfully fate gave us another chance!

Matt & Kim gave a great show full of energy & persuaded us to join in on their fun.

It was Kim's birthday and we did a lot of celebrating

Matt talked about walking around Tempe early that day he then said "Arizona is tougher than heat." I love it!

Everyone was so pumped and Matt & Kim did such an awesome job it was a great show. 

Arcade Fire

Went and saw Arcade Fire last night in Phoenix. Some of the highlights were...

 The Harry Potter trivia that played on the screen before Arcade Fire came on.

During the opening song suddenly we hear a drum really loud behind Mimi, Britt & I. 

We turned to see this guy beating a single drum RIGHT behind us so I whipped out my camera and took a picture of Will Butler before he headed up to join the rest of the band on stage.

Eventually the audience began to wake up & enjoy the show

I had such a great time, everything was lovely! 

Oh & some of the members of the opening band Local Natives came out and watched the show right by us as well. 

Time Keeps On Slipping

Monday I won tickets to see Pete Yorn & Ben Kweller in concert. It kind of blew my mind when I realized it had been 9 years the last time I had seen either of them in concert.

Seeing these guys again brought back a lot of memories...Like driving & Lauren saying that she needed to Sha Sha again. Or being at the Porterhouse (yes I found the old website) and hearing Chris play Falling on the  piano. Or when we bought Pete Yorn"s first CD (yes remember CD's) based on looks alone, no we are not shallow. Or when we were at the first Pete Yorn concert in Tempe not Coachella & Debbie coming up to me asking for money so she could buy the opening band's (Minibar) CD, convincing me by saying "come talk to them Connie they are British". Needless to say we bought their CD, being the suckers for accents that we are.  

Listening to Ben was fun because his music has grown up as we have grown up, I just looked it up and we are in fact the same age. Both Pete & Ben look a lot the same did not seem to age much at all, the jerks :). 

Also a year ago today Mimi, Chelsea & I embarked on our European adventure. 

Today I was invited to go to Williams school as a "special guest" and have lunch with him in his class. It was so fun to see have him show me around his class room & I also got my very own one of these.

The Temper Trap & Ponytails

The day of the concert I went down to the venue on my lunch break to see about getting tickets. When I walked into the door the band was on stage doing a sound check. The bass player of the band had a ponytail, not a gross ponytail a Johnny Depp in Chocolat

Or Lou from the Phoenix Suns (who I happened to see after the Muse concert)

During the concert I really loved his ponytail because it reminded me of Johnny Depp in Chocolat so I yelled "bass player I love your pirate ways".

What? No that is not me up on stage standing next to the bass player with the ponytail, how dare who even suggest such a thing. Sorry I don't have a better picture, his ponytail is falling out after all the rocking he was doing.

So I am curious have you ever found a guy with a ponytail attractive?

Vampire Tuesday

We saw Vampire Weekend back in September 2008, and were excited to see them again! This time with Shelby & Jen.

We enjoyed the base players moves last time so we ended up on his side again.

Don't you just love the chandeliers?

They are a fun band with a lot of energy, if you are a fan I would recommend seeing them live.

I belong to MUSE

I love that the first post I ever did on my blog was about Muse. It shows just how present the band has been in my life since I first heard New Born 8 years ago. I decided the day before the concert that I wanted to make a Muse shirt. I knew I wanted the bands silhouette like on this posters. I also wanted to tell Muse how I felt about them. The first time I listened to the Resistance I came to a song called "I Belong To You" toward the end of the song Matt sings the words "I belong, I belong to you alone" every time I hear that I sing in my head "I belong, I belong to Muse alone". it was just always obvious what I would say. And thanks to Mimi for coming up with the idea of putting the lyrics like the logo so people would know I was saying I belong to MUSE.

I made a shirt for Debbie too, I had to put her MUSE up higher since I forgot to put the cardboard under and it bleed through. I had a girl come up and ask where we got our shirts, I thought that was a pretty big complement. Oh and Debbie picked her lyrics as well, which made me happy because Bliss is an old favorite of mine.

We owe a big thank you to Shelby & Amber (Britt's friends) who went early and sort of got in line. We were able to get really close to the stage on Chris's side.

I wanted to tell how Russ & I popped one of the balloons and covered us all in confetti! I pulled out my sharp marker and I think you can even see me bending down getting ready to jump and get the balloon.
