Je t'adore

Do you ever find yourself so full of love & happiness that words fail you?

My sister Debbie asked our friend Mimi to do some family pictures, I am not sure whose idea it was to do a family video as well but the results are perfection. Mimi did such a great job filming & I love the editing. I came along and got to hold the butterball while they went on rides, you can see me stealing kisses from baby butterball in the video.

Hair Revolution

I have a confession, I have not used shampoo, a curling iron, flat iron or any other products in my hair other than a alcohol free gel & water downed conditioner for over a month. I could not be happier about it!
I knew this fact that washing my hair everyday dried it out and that my hair always looked better the day after washing it. So why was I hesitant to listen to the no-poo revolution? I know why because I thought it meant I would not clean my hair and I had visions of me becoming a greasy hippie with dreadlocks. Then my sister switched to no-poo and she didn't turn into a greasy hippy with dreadlocks. But I still didn't think I would want to go to the trouble of making my own shampoo. Then my sister went to a salon in Gilbert, Curls Gone Wild that specializes in curly hair where they taught about care for curly hair & where she bought the book Curly Girl. You can see her post debsfreckles: Curly Girl with before & after shots. All my life my hair acted like it wanted to curl but it just never would but then I went to Europe & my curling irons stopped working but it didn't seem to matter.
Europe equaled moisture
Debbie thought I should try the curly girl method. I bought the sulfate free shampoo (see you do clean just not with poo) and conditioner & alcohol free gel. I saw a difference and the more I moisturized my hair the more curl I saw. Then Debbie & I went to a book signing for The Curly Girl (follow the link to see Deb's post). After being there and hearing Lorraine Massey talk about it I have become completely converted. Lorraine summed it up nicely when she talked about how the more she simplifies her life the happier she becomes. If you are interested in seeing Lorraine in action I really liked this video.
This is a weird picture I know but I want you to see my hair this is the day after I washed it. I have been outside almost all day. All I did to it after waking up was spray some water downed conditioner and scrunched. I don't think this revolution is just for curly hair I want everyone to realize how much softer their hair will be after they stop using the harsh detergent (the same as you use for your dishwasher & laundry) on their hair.

Arcade Fire

Went and saw Arcade Fire last night in Phoenix. Some of the highlights were...
The Harry Potter trivia that played on the screen before Arcade Fire came on.
During the opening song suddenly we hear a drum really loud behind Mimi, Britt & I.
We turned to see this guy beating a single drum RIGHT behind us so I whipped out my camera and took a picture of Will Butler before he headed up to join the rest of the band on stage.

The lights &
 graphics were so pretty.

Eventually the audience began to wake up & enjoy the show
I had such a great time, everything was lovely!

Oh & some of the members of the opening band Local Natives came out and watched the show right by us as well.

A Vampire Wizard who lives in Narnia

My last post was inspired by a few things but one of the main inspirations was this picture.

My friend Melissa once said that she wanted to be a vampire wizard who lived in Narnia. So for Melissa's birthday I decided to make her own vampire, wizard & Narnia sign. But I could have not done it on my own, with a little help from my friends I went to work. My friend Jenny has a vinyl lettering machine, which she let me use & did most of the work herself. Then I went to Debbie's to find wood & use Russ's saw to cut the boards. Russ showed me how to use the saw & added the sings to a tree stake while I picked up Mimi so she could take the pictures. The shoot went great and Mimi emailed me the pictures I added Melissa's quote to one & sent them to Sam's Club to be printed. The next morning Sam's Club called me and told me they had to ask if they photo's were "copyrighted". I got a huge grin on my face when she asked, so proud of how awesome they turned out!

I was happy with the way they turned out pretty & kind of spooky at the same time, the shadows I LOVE the  shadows!

Fantasy Vacation

Yesterday on twitter I saw a hash tag ConfessionsofStrandedTimeTraveler. When I saw it I thought yes, yes that is me! It also made me think of this quote from C.S. Lewis...

Which is pretty much the reason I love to read & watch movies, I get to escape to a world that I feel like I belong in. Which worlds do you like to escape in?
Narnia? Especially if Mr. Tumnus is James McAvoy
Perhaps it is Hogwarts
Or if you are like me, Pemberley
I wouldn't mind be locked in Penelope's bedroom
Or maybe Coeur D' Coeurs aka Pushing Daisies

Do you want a Hobbit Hole for yourself?

Well Cassandra Clare's latest came out today so I am off to Idris or more likely New York, see you later.
