Out With The Old In With The New Part 7

Today I typed 2012 instead of 2014, I am not sure if it was just a typing error or if I am just that in denial that is twenty fourteen.
As the year was coming to a close I tried to think what my favorite movies of the year were in preparation for this post. I could only think of two off the top of my head, Austenland and Catching Fire but I told myself not to worry I was bound to think of more when I looked over the list of 2013 movies. Unfortunately nothing really changed after I wrote the list of movies I saw.

Next was Catching Fire, I don't think I've watched Huger Games again but I would go see Catching Fire again. It has been years since I read Catching Fire but I think this is one of the best book to movie adaptions I have ever seen.

Also can there be a spin off movie that is just about Ceaser Flickerman, Stanley Tucci is the best.

Movies that I liked but didn't necessarily love were Saving Mr. Banks & The Host.

2014 seems to be a more promising year.

Christopher Nolan has a new movie coming out so how could it not, right! Interstellar


Wes Anderson has The Grand Budapest Hotel coming out as well

Out With The Old In With The New Part 6

It is a new year and you know what that means, my list of favorite movies from the past year and what movies I am looking forward too.
Les Miserables the musical has been a huge favorite of mine since I first saw a special on PBS. I have seen the movie twice and loved it even more the second time. I bought the soundtrack the day after Christmas and some songs already have 33 listens.


I am such a huge Batman & Chirstopher Nolan fan, I really thought this was a great end to the series. And Catwoman was exactly what I would have wished her to be.


Oh Wes Anderson you make me laugh so much!


I also enjoyed The Hunger Games, Breaking Dawn part 2 (I could watch Lee Pace as Garrett all day long) and Snow White & The Huntsman.

The movies I am looking forward to the most are mostly from books! First and foremost is Austenland which is premiering at Sundance this month!!! 

We also have The Mortal Instruments, which it has been awhile since I read but watching the trailer brought back my love for the series. 

The Host, I wasn't happy with the younger casting of the film BUT once I saw the trailer all my Ian love came back.


I am excited about Catching Fire mostly because of Finnick!

And although I didn't like The Great Gatsby I will be seeing this movie as well. Also Jack The Giant Slayer looks good too. Everytime I think about how this

became this

it brings a smile to my face. I am so proud that Marcus grew up to be awesome.

Stars Moon & Snow

I have been following Diana Peterfreund's blog for years and one of the reasons is that Diana and I have something in common, Persuasion is both our favorite Jane Austen novel. I am not sure how long ago she announced that she was writing a modern adaption to Persuasion, but it seems like I have been waiting forever for this book. It is more than just a modern retelling it is a post apocalyptic retelling of Persuasion. Retellings can be tricky they need to follow the story enough but also be their own as well and I think Diana did a fantastic job of creating very similar feelings and yet making the characters new.  

I knew it was a bad idea to start reading it right before bed and I was right because suddenly it was 3 a.m. and I really did try and go to sleep but I couldn't my mind was racing and I was too awake. I finished the book with the sunrise that morning and managed to sneak a couple hours of sleep. It was totally worth it!  

When I stopped at the bookstore to pick up For Darkness Shows the Stars, I also saw they had new paperbacks for Laini Taylor's Daughter of Smoke and Bone which have a sneak preview of the sequel due this fall. Days of Blood & Starlight. I sat down right there in the store and read it, my heart could almost not handle it. Counting down the days till fall!

I also saw Moonrise Kingdom and laughed a lot. Wes Anderson's attention to detail is so amazing, I now have a new movie house I want to live in. I also wish I could read all of Suzy's books here is a little glimpse of the lovely books. 

Let's not forget that I have seen Snow White and the Huntsman twice and would gladly see it a third and fourth.

I noticed Chris Hemsworth in Star Trek and who didn't notice him in Thor? But having a crush on him just seemed too excessive (click on the link for Thor to understand). But after seeing him in Snow White with his brown hair (not a fan of blonde hair) and Scottish accent, I would now like to welcome him to my collection of fictional boyfriends. I would also like to mention that the studio is committed to writing a script for a second Snow White, if they can do it right I hope they will make it I loved the world. 

Also I want a fairy.

Happy New Year!!! 

Guys can you believe that I have been blogging for over 5 years now? December was a busy and fun month and I feel like my holiday's just finished and I can finally get to posting my traditional end of year favorite movies post.  (I know you all have been waiting for it.) ;)

My favorite movie of 2011 with out a doubt had to have been Harry Potter Deathly Hallows part 2. I think I saw it three times in the theater & know it is going to be one of the movies that I will remember seeing in the theater for years to come.


Next up was The Kings Speech, really what is not to like about this movie, a marvelously talented cast & a story that pulls on your heart strings.


In my opinion the X-Men movies are what made comic book movies kick up their game and X-Men First Class did not disappoint. I believe I said this in a blog post already but a comic book movie that can make me cry is a good comic book movie!


Movies I liked were Super 8, Midnight in Paris, Jane Eyre & Like Crazy, even with its indie ending.

As for the New, 2012 is going to rock our socks off with movies! So many movies I am looking forward to seeing!!!

The Tom Hardy Weekend

Being the Batman fan that I am I went to IMAX to watch a special 6 minuet trailer of the The Dark Knight Rises before Mission Impossible 3. Here was my Instagram...

In the clip they showed men being loaded onto a plane with their heads covered, I knew which one was Bane (Tom Hardy) by just his back.

I knew who Tom was from Wuthering Heights and I know most British male actors. But I of course fell for him in Inception.

So when my brothers wanted to watch Warrior together I said come on over.

It was fun to discover that my brother Mark has a man crush on him as well.

Snow Season

I always wonder why it is that things seem to come in waves, it wasn't that long ago everywhere I turned I saw Alice in Wonderland. Now it is Snow White...

ABC has a new series called Once Upon a Time and Ginnifer Goodwin is playing Snow White one of the main characters on the show.

There are two movies coming out as well.
Snow White and the Huntsman


and Mirror Mirror which is a comedy


I am thinking the movie minus Julia Roberts plus this guy (Chris Hemsworth aka Thor)

AND a Hot British Male in it (Sam Claflin)

will be the one I like best.

My favorite movies of 2010
Inception

I would have loved this movie just based on the fact that it has a bunch of good looking boys in it (Joe Gordon-Levitt, Cillian Murphy & Tom Hardy) who are doing a heist. I love heist movies with a bunch of boys and one girl, Oceans Eleven, Newton Boys, The Italian Job & The Brothers Bloom.  But Inception was so much more, the amazing details like the waredrobe. How each character had a unique style that fit their personality, especially how Dom (Leo) dressed like an old man, because in his mind he was. Am I the only one who was swooning over Arthur's (Joe) suits, because dang he looked good!
You know how movies about books are never as good, because in a movie you can't easily feel the emotions going on with the main character. Inception makes you walk out feeling exactly like Dom, is it reality isn't it. And for those who say the whole thing was a dream, that is a bunch of hooey.

True Grit

When I saw the Coen brothers were remaking True Grit I was very excited because my dad is a big Coen brothers fan. My brother Mark is as well, he forced me to watch No Country For Old Men edited of course. The movie was dark, funny & intense a good receipe for the Coen brothers. I saw it with my dad, four of my brothers, a sister in law & brother in law after we just kept talking about the movie over and over.

The Young Victoria

This technically came out in 2009 but I did not see it till 2010. If you are reading this chances are I already made you watch this movie with me.

As for 2011 here are some movies I am excited about.
Jane Eyre

I loved that they cast people age appropriate & what can I say I am a sucker for pretty movies. Doesn't it look pretty?

The Conspirator

I have been missing James, so I am very excited that he has two movies coming out!
X-Men First Class

Is that Mr. Rochester I spy as Magneto? James McAvoy will be playing Professor Xavier & look at Nicolas Hoult in the back (I am so happy how tall & handom the akward little boy Marcus from About A Boy turned out) will be playing Beast.

I Dream of Houses

I was thinking about some of my favorite houses from the movies and was going to do a post telling you what some of my all time favorite houses are. But as I started doing research I found someone had already done the work it is a blog called Hooked on Houses and she had almost all of my movie houses.
One of the first houses I remember falling in love with (that wasn't a cartoon) was Gone With The Wind. And not Tara but Twelve Oaks and the amazing double stair case

It probably didn't hurt that Rhett Butler was at the bottom of those stairs
Oh and the library don't forget the library
As I got older I realized that two stair cases might be a little much.

When I was in Junior High I really liked the movie The Parent Trap (1961 version) and my parents even bought it for me for Christmas. While researching the ranch house I found out that the outside house is real but the interior was all a set & that Disney still get request asking for blue prints of the house. Yeah if I had money I would be one of those people, because I LOVE THIS HOUSE.

Looking at the outside & the inside now seems silly to think they were the same house.

The main attraction to the house, is the courtyard.

And look can you imagine if that is how you got to your bedroom?My parents were married in 1962 or was it 1963? The point is the early 60's has always been a heavy influence on me.
And the huge open kitchen, love it!

Can you see the tile around the bathtub? It is so pretty.

In high school I fell in LOVE with the house from Practical Magic. Seriously! Check out that garden and it is on an island too.




Yeah this is their pantry.
Personally I would want to live in the attic.

Again AMAZING kitchen.

Now as a grown up I would have to say my favorite house is from The Holiday sure maybe it has to do with the fact that it is in England, but it is just so perfect.
Notice the red & blue my favorite color combo.

There are fireplaces all over the houseAnd her bedroom I Love her bedroom!


And THE BEST PART is the bookshelves!

Now I know this isn't her house but if we could add a theater room to the cottage I would be good to go!
